Two Guthrie County Jail inmates face an additional charge after one was found allegedly fashioning a weapon in his cell.
According to the criminal complaint, 27-year-old Trask Allen Anderson of Coon Rapids was in custody Tuesday for operating while under the influence first offense. A deputy was alerted to Anderson manufacturing a plastic shank by grinding down a plastic food utensil against the floor of his cell. Video footage showed Anderson had filed down the utensil, and showed it to fellow inmate 22-year-old Charles Andrew Onnen of Guthrie Center. Onnen is in custody for several felony charges of possession of contraband in a correctional institution and a felony robbery charge.
The video showed Anderson flushed the shank down the toilet. When interviewed Anderson denied making the weapon, and Onnen denied seeing the weapon. Anderson was charged with possession of a weapon in a correctional institution, a class C felony. Onnen was charged with failure to report contraband in a correctional institution, an aggravated misdemeanor. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
