Downed tree limbs and blown off roof shingles were among the damage left in the wake of a severe thunderstorm that blew through the Raccoon Valley Radio-listening area Tuesday morning.
At 5:53 a.m. a severe thunderstorm warning was issued for southwestern Guthrie County, with hazards of 60 mile-per-hour wind gusts and half-dollar size hail. The storm traveled east into Dallas County where a severe thunderstorm warning was in effect until 7:19 a.m. The National Weather Service received spotter reports of half-inch size hail in Adair, tree limbs down in Menlo and Stuart, and shingles blown off and power poles broken in Stuart. Dallas County Emergency Management Coordinator AJ Seely confirms there were some 50 mile-per-hour wind gusts in the county. Five members of the Severe Weather Action Team brought live coverage of the storm in Guthrie and Dallas counties. A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect for the two counties until 11 a.m., listen to Raccoon Valley Radio for weather updates.
