The softball and baseball teams from Class 3A Greene County will meet Class 1A teams from Coon Rapids-Bayard in non-conference action later today. Coach Tom Kennedy’s softball Rams host the Crusaders sometime after 7 p.m. at the City Diamond on E. Lincolnway in Jefferson. That game can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. The Rams are 0-3 and CR-B is 2-2. Greene County is led by its two seniors, Jenna Beyers and Megan Carey. Beyers hit the first home run of the season for the Rams in a 7-3 loss on Saturday morning to Carroll at the Ogden Tournament.

Greene County’s baseball team makes the short drive southwest to Coon Rapids to take on the Crusaders. Coach John Hupp’s team is 2-1 and will be making their first road trip of the season. The Rams went with a three-man pitching rotation last week to begin the season in Nick Breon, Austin Delp, and Brent Riley. Delp, who three a five-inning no-hitter last Thursday in a victory against Perry, is also a member of the Rams’ State qualifying soccer team. He plans on continuing splitting his time between the two sports this week.
