An informational meeting is taking place this week in Jefferson about those wanting to learn more about Christianity.
The Alpha Course is an outreach program that promotes Christ through a non-denominational way. Co-organizer Amy McGinn talks about why they wanted to bring this kind of program to the community.
“This group was born out of a love for our community and the people in our community. We see that there are a lot of people who have questions, maybe they are not established in a church and they just want to know what church is all about.”
The first session takes place this Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30pm at the Masonic Lodge on the westside of the downtown square in Jefferson. There will be a light meal served and then attendees will watch a movie. McGinn adds that there is no commitment to the program that will be every Thursday through August 8th starting at 5:30pm at the Masonic Lodge. Each session will begin with a short movie, followed by small group discussions.
McGinn notes that it is a confidential, safe environment for anyone to join and learn about Christ. She emphasizes those who don’t believe there is a God are also welcome to participate. The program is free and open to the public. For more information, contact McGinn at 515-370-1917 or via email at amypmcginn@gmail.com.
