The yearly City of Perry Community Dropoff Day is this Saturday, and residents are encouraged to do some spring cleaning.
City Administrator Sven Peterson says crews will be at Pattee Park from 8 a.m. – noon, collecting items such as bicycles, carpet and padding, doors, furniture, windows, and miscellaneous junk and bagged garbage. The cost to take part is $5 for a small car load, $15 for a truck load, and $30 for a large load. Peterson points out that the City moved away from curbside pick-up last year, and given the success of the event in 2018 they brought it back for another year. “So this is what we’re doing now instead of Spring Clean-Up. So just load up your stuff and your junk, and bring it down to Pattee Park. Also that day we are doing our appliance and scrap metal dropoff, so appliances and scrap metal you can get rid of for free. And it’s going to be at the tennis court parking lot, dropoff is at the softball field parking lots.”
Peterson adds, they will also accept computer monitors and televisions, though there is a fee for disposing of those, ranging from $15-$30 based on size. He also reminds those who can’t make it to the dropoff, the City is offering the use of a dumpster for a week to residents at no charge.
