For the third straight year, the ACGC baseball team has left the first week of play without a win. The Chargers opened up the 2019 campaign with the most lopsided results in the first three games of an ACGC season, scoring just one run and giving up 32.
Despite the sluggish start, first-year head coach Taylor Morris is optimistic there are brighter days ahead for the program. “All we got to do is just keep getting better day in, day out. These guys are buying in. The team looks much more ahead than we were last year. That’s a testament to the kids who are working hard and coming in and wanting to get better day in, day out. We just got to continue to keep taking strides. We’re going to take some lumps, but that’s the game of baseball.”
The Chargers have totaled just eight hits in the first three games, all coming from a trio of Chargers: Ben Kingery, Newell Rogers, and Avery Wheatley. Weather permitting, the Chargers are scheduled to travel to Ogden tomorrow to battle the Bulldogs. To hear the full interview with Morris, listen to tonight’s Wahl McAtee Tire and Service Center Guthrie County PM Sports Page. The show begins at 6pm on True Country, K107.9.
