The third time was a charm for the ADM Baseball team to get their season opening game in the books. Monday’s game at Interstate 35 was cancelled due to rain, and Tuesday’s game versus Des Moines Roosevelt was postponed until Wednesday for weather reasons, as well.
Wednesday’s weather was warm, and the bats were even warmer, as a total of 20 runs were scored between the Tigers and Roughriders on ADM’s home diamond in Adel.
Logan Crannell started on the mound for the Tigers and threw 88 pitches in 3 innings of work.
Roosevelt got to work early, as Pendergast of Roosevelt blasted a two-run shot to deep center and over the fences. Over the first two innings of play, Roosevelt scored seven runs and had a big lead on the Tigers.
ADM got their bats going in the third and fourth innings with RBIs from Joe Finnegan, Kaden Sutton, and Crannell. After four innings, ADM closed the gap to 7-6.
Colton Benz relieved Crannell in the fourth, and pitched for 1 1/3 innings, before Seth Williamson finished the job on the mound for the Tigers.
ADM gave up another 4 runs in the fifth inning and was never able to complete the comeback, as ADM fell in its season opening game against Des Moines Roosevelt 12-8.
This week, the ADM Baseball team travels to Perry on Tuesday, the Tigers host Boone on Wednesday, and then again host Bondurant-Farrar on Thursday.
On Thursday, Raccoon Valley Radio will air the game between ADM and B-F on K107-9 and stream it live at raccoonvalleyradio.com. Pregame will start at 7:00 on Thursday, with the first pitch at 7:30.
