The Paton-Churdan Class of 2019 recently held their Senior Mentor Banquet at the Paton Community Room.
The 16 seniors each chose an adult mentor that significantly influenced their lives and recognized them with an essay at the event. The students then received over $11,000 in scholarships. Attendees also enjoyed a catered meal provided by the Lidderdale Country Store, which was co-sponsored by Community State Bank in Paton and Churdan United Bank of Iowa. School Counselor Libby Towers said about the evening, “This is a fun and sometimes emotional evening that really helps to start the closure of a student’s career at Paton-Churdan. This evening would not be possible if it were not for the families, mentors and community organizations and clubs that support our students through scholarships and sponsorship of this event. Thank you to all!”
The public is invited to the commencement ceremony on Saturday at 2pm at the school gym in Churdan. The graduating senior class valedictorian is Megan Carey and the salutatorian is Eric Thompson. The commencement ceremony is free and open to the public. You can see the list of scholarship recipients and pictures from the Senior Mentor Banquet below.
