A Missouri man was recently sentenced in Greene County District Court for an August 2018 incident.
According to court documents, 27-year-old Estavan Jones received an adjudicated conviction after pleading guilty to a lesser charge of an aggravated misdemeanor for operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent. He was sentenced to 60 days in the Greene County Jail and will be given credit for time already served.
The sentence stemmed from an incident on August 23, 2018 when Jones stole a truck from outside of 209 Main restaurant in Paton. We’ve previously reported that when authorities found the stopped vehicle along Highway 144 headed towards Perry, Jones had admitted to taking the vehicle and he was going to Des Moines.
Jones was also ordered to pay a law enforcement surcharge, court-appointed attorney fees, court costs and victim restitution. He was originally charged with a felony for theft, but court documents show he pled guilty to the lesser charge.
