Memorial Day services have been announced for the City of Jefferson.
On Memorial Day at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, the program will start at 9:30am. There will be a Salute to Our Fallen Heroes with a joint firing squad from the Jefferson Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the American Legion, followed by the playing of “Taps.”
The Jefferson Municipal Cemetery service begins at 10:45am. The emcee will be the American Legion Post #11 Commander Phil Thompson. The program starts with the raising of the American flag and the Lindsay “Medal of Honor” flag with the Jefferson Fire Department. The Greene County High School band will then perform “Salute to Freedom,” followed by an invocation. The Flag Essay Winner Addison Gannon will read her essay, followed by a Memorial Day Address from Micah Rasmussen. The high school band will perform the National Anthem with the VFW and American Legion firing squads paying tribute. The program ends with the playing of “Taps.”
Both Memorial Day services are free and open to the public.
