The teaching profession is constantly evolving, but many people feel it’s teachers who are molding young minds into the leaders of tomorrow. With that in mind, area school districts are observing National Teacher Appreciation Week.
Bringing Optimism and Opportunity to Students and Teachers (BOOST) of Greene County Member Chris Deal says teachers play a critical role in setting a positive image, example and role model for youth while also educating them. He adds that their annual fundraiser helps give Greene County School District teachers support from the community.
“Our community has always supported teachers, our community has always held education in a very high regard. This (our event) just gave people a much easier way to show it. To allow teachers to come, to have a night to themselves, but also for people to tell them how much they do appreciate them, how much they do care.”
Paton-Churdan Superintendent Kreg Lensch says teachers face challenges all the time in education, but he believes the culture at P-C is one that is very positive for the students and promotes a learning environment.
“I think the atmosphere up there, as a staff, they really attack things as a team and try to individualize education as much as possible. I think that comes through, not only in the classroom, but outside of the classroom. So you want to take the time to make sure that you tell all of the staff-teachers and support staff-how much you appreciate them.”
As we celebrate and highlight National Teacher Appreciation Week, today is also Teacher Appreciation Day.
