Coach Carl Behne’s Greene County boys’ soccer team has been on the road quite a bit lately facing tough competition. Those two factors will be in place at 5:30 p.m. today in Nevada when the Rams take on the Cubs in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play. Only five of the eight HOIAC schools have boys’ soccer, but the league has proven its worth with three rated teams and all five are well over the .500 mark. Nevada has the worst record among conference teams at 8-5 and the Rams are 8-4, with all losses coming to ranked teams. Greene County entered the week ranked sixth in Class 1A.

The Rams have the top goal scorer and points scorer in the state in Junior Gutierrez with 31 goals and 72 points. Luis Velazco has 18 goals, tied for eleventh most in Iowa, and his 40 points tie him for sixteenth place.

Nevada is led by Jose Buenrrostos with 14 goals and nine assists for 47 points. Anthony Ellis has 21 points on nine goals and three assists.
