The next event in the Perry Fine Arts Committee’s concert series is this week, though it’s not during the typical time.

Committee member Cathy Clark says they are once again hosting LYRA, a music group from Russia that performs both sacred and folk songs. She says the a capella group has performed in Perry before, and they’ve been considered by many as the most talented group of musicians the committee has been able to bring in. The concert will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Perry High School Performing Arts Center, and Clark is hopeful that people will give it a try in lieu of their normal midweek religious services. “I know a lot of Christian groups meet on Wednesday night, but since this is the Russian Orthodox Christian music, hopefully you can piggyback on that for religious education and music history! And so we would really encourage people come to listen to them, because they are very, very good.”

The concert is free to attend, though free-will donations are always accepted. Any proceeds will help pay for future Perry Fine Arts concerts.
