About 20 people attended a meet and greet event with Democratic Presidential hopeful Eric Swalwell in Jefferson Saturday.

The Greene County Democratic Party held the event at Uptown Cafe. The California Congressman talked about investing federal funds to find cures for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases, while also making Medicare available for everyone. Another main platform for Swalwell was his “College bargain” program where students who do a work study throughout their college years and then volunteer after graduation would qualify to have their college debt be forgiven. Other topics Swalwell addressed were gun violence, climate change, strengthening the southern border, public finances and legalizing marijuana across the country.

Swalwell was also in Fort Dodge and Storm Lake Saturday as he was in the middle of a three-day campaign swing through Iowa. Swalwell was the fourth Democratic Presidential candidate that has stopped in Greene County this year.
