Two Panorama athletes signed to play college football for conference rivals on Friday.

Gracen Welberg will be playing at Coe College, an NCAA Division III school in Cedar Rapids. The Kohawks had a winning year last season, finishing with a 6-4 record and 5-3 in the American Rivers Conference.

Koltin Sloss, meanwhile will play for conference foe Simpson, which is located in Indianola. Simpson had an even better season last year, posting a 7-3 record and 6-2 in the conference including a 29-7 win over Coe.

The two seniors helped Panorama to a 5-4 record last fall. Welberg was the team’s top receiver with 39 catches for 526 yards and five touchdowns. He also recorded four interceptions and four fumble recoveries on defense, returning one for a touchdown and served as the team’s place kicker. Sloss was a stalwart on the Panther defense, notching 28 tackles including five for a loss and two sacks.

Welberg and Sloss will be on opposite sidelines for the first time October 26 when Coe hosts Simpson.
