Around 1,000 people once again descended upon the Dallas County Fairgrounds in Adel Saturday morning to take part in the sixth annual Dallas County Toddler Fest.
The event was organized by the Dallas County Library Association and the 4RKids organization, and it included a wide assortment of activities and information specifically for families with young children. Adel Public Library Director Paula James helped to spearhead the festivities, and she told Raccoon Valley Radio that it has been great to see each of the County’s libraries come together and improve the event every year. “It’s just a really fun event for our county, we’re really proud of it. There’s 12 libraries that help with this, and it’s just a big, fun event! And it is running smoother after this many years, it’s not quite as difficult as it used to be. So everybody loves participating and so that’s what’s nice about it.”
Attendees were able to take part in activities such as face-painting, balloon creations, crafts, and a petting zoo, as well as get their pictures taken with characters from Pixar’s “Toy Story” movies and Disney’s “Frozen.” While they were doing that, the parents were also able to learn about the services offered in and around Dallas County, in addition to getting information on each library’s summer reading program. Raccoon Valley Radio’s Big Red Radio was also in attendance, as we broadcasted live, played music, and provided public address services.
The organizers felt Toddler Fest was once again a big success, and are already looking forward to next year.
