One person is dead following a Tuesday morning wreck in Guthrie Center.

According to the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office, at about 8:48 a.m. 74-year-old Dean Edward Downing was driving a Chevrolet Silverado that was pulling a stock trailer of cattle westbound on Highway 44 when due to a medical condition his truck left the roadway and struck the Midway Motel and sign pole. The vehicle came to a rest against the building. Panora Emergency Medical Services transported Downing to Guthrie County Hospital where he later died. The Guthrie Center Fire Department assisted at the scene.
