There might be several hundred motorcycles in the City of Jefferson later today. That’s because there’s a poker run fundraiser going on.

The Sleeping Angels Foundation has included Doc’s Stadium Bar and Grill as one of its stops on their route this year. The organization raises money to help with funeral and medical costs, along with purchases of headstones for Iowa families that lost a newborn to a 12-month-old child. Part of the proceeds from this year’s fundraiser will go to Ben and Megan Wilson of Jefferson to purchase a headstone in memory of their child.

The poker run starts at TK’s Event Center in Boone at 10am. It will go to the Whistlin’ Donkey in Woodward, Twisted Corn Tavern in Dallas Center, Just 1 More in Jamaica, Doc’s Stadium Bar and Grill in Jefferson and it will end back at TK’s in Boone. Motorcyclists are anticipated to be in Jefferson between 1 and 4pm, with Chestnut Street from Lincoln Way to State Street closed to traffic during that time. There will also be a police escort from south Highway 4 as participants come into town.
