The Panorama girls track team continued its run of success Thursday, winning the team title at the West Central Activities Conference meet in Panora. The meet was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but got pushed back because of rain.
The girls ran away with the title with 159 points compared to 110 for second place Van Meter. They had a number of first place finishes including Kassidy Bremer in the 100 and 200-meters, Gwen Steffen in the 800, Morgan Johnk in the 100-meter hurdles and high jump and the relay team in the 4×800.
Other top five finishes for the Lady Panthers were Ella Waddle taking second in both the 1500 and 3000-meters, Bailey Beckman was second in the long jump and third in the 400, Lydia Lindstrom placed second in the 400-meter hurdles, Shey Storesund was third in the long jump, Lydia Knapp finished third in discus and the relays were second in the 4×100, 4×200, 4×400 and distance medley.
The boys title was claimed by Madrid. Panorama placed 11th with 35 points. Scoring points for the Panther boys, Gracen Welberg won the high jump and finished eighth in the 200-meters, Luke South placed third in the 110-meter hurdles with Welberg fourth. South also took sixth in the 400 hurdles, Zach Rizzuti was fifth in the long jump and the relay team was sixth in the shuttle hurdle.
Both teams will compete again on Monday with the girls at Martensdale-St Marys and the boys at AC/GC, then Panorama will host state qualifying on Thursday.
