Progress continues on the reconstruction of the Dallas County Auditor’s Office parking lot, though crews have run into a few hiccups.
At the most recent Board of Supervisors meeting, Todd Allyn, a representative from contractor AECOM, presented a change order that included three unforeseen complications in the project. The first was the necessity of removing internet and utility access running to an abandoned structure near the north side of the building. The second issue involved running electrical service to a flagpole on the property. The last and most costly issue was problems with the foundation on the west side of the facility.
Allyn emphasized that none of the issues caused a lot of concern, but they did require attention and increased the overall price tag on the project by $6,274.07. The parking lot is expected to be finished by mid-summer, and Auditor Julia Helm says construction shouldn’t overly interfere with any upcoming special elections. People needing to access the building are reminded to use the entry on the south side of the building in the alleyway. They are also asked to not park in the Motor Vehicle Department lot, and instead utilize street parking.
