A special event is coming to Jefferson for the first time on Saturday and it may bring over 1,000 motorcyclists to town.
The Sleeping Angels Foundation is having their 8th annual fun run where all of the proceeds benefit Iowa families who lost a newborn to 12-month-old child. Executive Vice-President Todd Green says they help with funeral costs, headstones, and medical costs. This year’s route starts at TK’s Event Center in Boone and includes stops at Whistlin’ Donkey in Woodward, Twisted Corn Tavern in Dallas Center, Just 1 More in Jamaica, Doc’s Stadium Bar and Grill in Jefferson and it will end back at TK’s in Boone.
Participants can register at TK’s for $25 per person and receive a poker card that they will present at each location. Once back at TK’s there will be an auction and raffle for a 2018 Softail Slim motorcycle.
One of the families that was selected by the Sleeping Angels Board and will receive some of the proceeds is Ben and Megan Wilson of Jefferson. They will get a headstone in memory of their child. An estimated 1,000-1,500 motorcyclists will be in Jefferson from 1 to 4pm and Chestnut Street from Lincoln Way to State Street will be blocked off from traffic during that time. There will also be a police escort from south Highway 4 as participants come into town.
Registrations are from 7:30 to 9am at TK’s in Boone with the ride to begin at 10am. All riders are expected to be back in Boone at 4pm. For more information or to register, click the link below.
