The ACGC track and field teams took full advantage of beautiful weather Thursday as they replaced several school and conference records at the West Central Activities Conference meet.
On the girls side, junior Kate Crawford shattered the conference record in the 3,000, winning the event with a season-best time of 10:37.13. The previous record was 11:07:52 set last year by Panorama’s Ella Waddle. Crawford also won the 1500 with a season-best time of 5:03.29. Freshman Chloe Largent also broke her own school record in the high jump, becoming the first girl in ACGC history to reach five feet. Largent finished in a tie for 2nd, only behind Panorama’s Morgan Johnk who cleared five feet, two inches. The other gold for the girls went to senior Madison McDermott in the discus and the distance medley relay team.
The Charger boys also claimed new records in the field. Junior Quynton Younker broke his own school records in both the discus and shot put. He placed 3rd in both events with throws of 127-11 and 46-04 respectively. Despite not claiming golds in any events, the boys retrieved several silvers and bronzes to add to the night’s total.
Both teams finished in 3rd in the team standings with 99.5 points for the girls and 69 points for the boys. This is the best team placing for the boys in school history. Panorama and Madrid took the girls and boys conference titles with 159 and 148 points respectively. To view a full list of results, click on the link below:
