Early childhood literacy programs are starting again at the Jefferson Public Library.

The Just for Babies Lapsit and Ready Readers Story Times will take place Wednesdays in May from the 1st through the 22nd. Just for Babies Lapsit Story Time is for newborns to 23-months from 10 to 10:30am, with a social time from 10:30 to 11:30. Ready Readers Story Time is for 2 to 6-year-olds from 10 to 11am and a social time from 11 to 11:30. Children’s Librarian Terry Clark explains the importance that both programs play in a child’s literacy development.

“Children learn from the time they are born. And these story times are essential for parents and children to socialize and learn through singing, stories and flannel boards and activities. It’s just a fun time for all of us.”

30Both programs are free and no registration is necessary. To learn more about either program contact the Children’s Department at 515-386-4415.
