An alum of the former Dexfield School District and current Redfield resident has recently been appointed to serve on the West Central Valley School Board.
Tiawny Meyers was appointed to fill the District Two seat left vacant by Chad Waddell. Meyers saw this opening as a great opportunity to serve the district, as she already frequently attends Board meetings and has four children enrolled. Meyers says tackling open enrollment will be one of her priorities as a Board member,
“I’d love to figure out why our families are open enrolling out of our school district and seeing what other school districts may be offering to meet those needs. And then bringing that back to the superintendent and the school board as a whole to see if maybe there are services or activities or different things that maybe we’re not currently offering that we could offer. That would not only benefit keeping students in our school district, but also benefit the kids and families that are already in our school district.”
Meyers has been involved in the after-prom committee, she helped conduct interviews for the recent superintendent hire, and served on the elementary restructuring committee. She also volunteers for the Redfield Public Library and serves on the Redfield Development Corp. Committee.
