A Fort Dodge woman faces felony charges after passing bad checks in Greene County.

The Jefferson Police Department has requested an arrest warrant for 24-year-old Megan Ann Stuhr. She is being charged with two Class D Felonies for forgery, two aggravated misdemeanors for identity theft and a simple misdemeanor for fifth degree theft. Police Chief Mark Clouse tells Raccoon Valley Radio Stuhr allegedly stole checks from a deceased victim’s home in Dana, where the bank account has been closed. Clouse states Stuhr has been involved in several other incidents in Boone, Carroll as well as Greene counties.

The first incident that happened in Jefferson was on March 1st when Stuhr wrote an $80 check to Durbin Automotive to unlock her vehicle in the Wild Rose parking lot. The check wasn’t cashed, but instead turned over to the police department. Clouse says they obtained video surveillance and identified Stuhr as the suspect. The other incident was on March 3rd when Stuhr tried passing a $100 check at Sparky’s One Stop gas station. However, a warning was sent to businesses about the bad checks and it wasn’t accepted. The Sparky’s employee kept the check and Stuhr left the business.

Stuhr additionally faces charges from the Greene County Sheriff’s office of misdemeanors for identity theft and fifth degree theft. The charges were for similar incidents reported on February 17th and March 3rd.

Once the warrants are issued and Stuhr is apprehended, Clouse says she will be booked into the Greene County Jail. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
