An early morning vehicle fire brought a quick response from fire crews and resulted in one arrest in Perry.
Perry Assistant Fire Chief Brian Eiteman tells Raccoon Valley Radio the Perry Police and Fire departments responded to the call of a van on fire at 2801 First Avenue Lot 36 at 1:45am Sunday. When Eiteman arrived on scene, he says a police officer was trying to put out the fire, that was in the front quarter of the van, with a fire extinguisher. Fire crews were able to put out the flames, which resulted in no injuries and no damage to any nearby structures, but caused the van to be a total loss.
Eiteman says the cause of the fire remains under investigation. However, Perry Police Chief Eric Vaughn confirms to Raccoon Valley Radio that Sinzobakwira Anne was arrested and charged with a Class C Felony for second degree arson. She was booked and remains in the Dallas County Jail under a $10,000 cash or surety bond.
