Though seniors Noah Nelsen and Clay Billheimer have built quite the reputation in middle and long distance running, a classmate has continually proven to be the fastest on the track at ACGC. At the Gonzales-Parrish Invitational on Thursday, Dylan Soper broke his own school record in the 200 meter dash. Soper won the meet with a time of 23.62, breaking the previous best of 23.97 in 2017.

Soper, who has led the squad in both the 100 and 200 meter disciplines all three years at ACGC, knows the mark was a tough one to reach, particularly this late in the year. “There was a lot of competition honestly and everybody’s hurting this late in the season. Winning that was pretty good. I’m at a loss for words honestly.”

Soper currently has the 12th fastest time in Class 2A in the 100 meter dash with a school record mark of 11.35, set at West Central Valley. Classmate Savana Fuller also swept both races on the girls side, recording season best times as well. To hear full interviews with Soper, Billheimer, and junior Kate Crawford, listen to Monday’s Wahl McAtee Tire and Service Center Guthrie County PM Sports Page. The show begins at 6pm on True Country, K107.9.
