It’s time to put on your bloomers and knee socks for a retro event happening tonight at West Central Valley High School.
The school is hosting a “Granny Basketball” fundraiser for six students who are going on a European trip this July. Students, parents, and staff will face off in a six-on-six game against the Iowa Granny Basketball League, a team of women over the age of 50 who play to raise funds for charitable causes. They also seek to entertain by playing with strictly 1920s basketball rules and dressing as women did during that era. The event will also include a raffle, bake sale, and auction. Granny Basketball starts at 7 p.m. in the high school gym in Stuart. Cost is $3 for students and $5 for adults.
