The month of May is almost upon us, which means it’s time for Perry residents to start maintaining their yards if they haven’t already.
The City reminds people of the rules laid out in the grass, weed, and brush ordinance. According to the City code, greenery must not exceed certain height restrictions. For residential, business, and industrial areas, grass, weed, and brush cannot exceed eight-inches, while in agricultural areas the limit is 15-inches. The ordinance will be checked on the first and third Wednesdays of each month between May and October. If any property is found in violation, it will be mowed by the City and the property owner will be charged a substantial fee. The ordinance applies to all property within City limits, whether it’s vacated or occupied.
Anyone with questions is encouraged to reach out to Perry City Hall at 515-465-2481.
