A Guthrie County attraction will soon be opening for its 51st season.

The Guthrie County Historical Village and Museum in Panora will open for the season from May 1st through October 15th. Besides its many exhibits displaying county history, the Village is also home to annual events like Art in the Village and the Haunted Village, as well as speakers like local historian Rod Stanley. Stanley also serves on the historical village board, and urges residents who have not checked out the museum to do so this summer, “The Guthrie County Historical Village is a gem. I mean it’s just an outstanding facility that people in Guthrie County should come and see. I mean we have 12 buildings on there, historical buildings ranging from the first house that was in Panora, to a blacksmith shop to a country school to a country church, print shop and a general store from the Monteith area. I mean there’s just (a) whole lot of things that are there to look at and historical artifacts that are in each one.”

The Guthrie County Historical Village and Museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m., and Saturdays and holidays from 1-4:30 p.m. Admission is $1 for children 6 to 17 and $2 for adults, and donations are appreciated to help maintain the museum.
