The Perry Public Library’s next Lifelong Learners Coffee is coming soon, and the focus for this month will be on a new way to experience the wilderness.
The library is partnering with Dallas County Conservation to educate attendees on a new lifestyle called “glamping.” Library Director Mary Murphy explains what the term means. “So ‘glamping’ is glamorous camping! So not quite the tent camping of my youth. And it’s not something that you have to have an RV for, because there are campgrounds and places to stay; that is glamping. So it appeals to that getaway part of you, where you don’t have to think of all the essentials like make the wood fire. And you can have some amenities of home.”
The program will be held Monday at 9 a.m. in the large meeting room of the library. Dallas County Conservation Outreach Coordinator Ken Keffer will lead the event, and he’ll discuss the assortment of glamping options within close proximity of central Iowa. There will also be people on hand to answer questions about the glamping lifestyle, as well as a demonstration of a Dutch oven, and tours of a luxury motor home courtesy of McKee RV in Perry. There is no cost to attend and no registration is required. For more information, stop in or call the Perry Library at 515-465-3569, or Forest Park Museum at 515-465-3577.
