Those looking to get rid of unused or expired prescription medications can do so tomorrow during National Drug Take Back Day.
Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio anyone can drop-off prescription medications they no longer need or use to the law enforcement center in Jefferson, with no questions asked, and for free. Williams says they will give all items to the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) to be incinerated. Items that won’t be accepted include inhalers and needles.
Williams points out they accept unused or expired prescription medications year round and people can also take them to the secured drug drop-off container at the Greene County Medical Center. Anyone with questions about the National Drug Take Back Day program or about acceptable items can contact the law enforcement center at 515-386-2136.
