Dallas County Public Health is hosting a training workshop at the beginning of May to help curb the rising trend of human trafficking in central Iowa.

The program is being offered in conjunction with Teens Against Human Trafficking, and will be held May 1st from 3-5 p.m. at the Dallas County Human Services Campus north of Adel. The objectives for the class include: learning about vulnerable populations; identifying indicators of trafficking; solidifying documentation; how to ask sensitive questions; assisting survivors in accessing services; gaining a familiarization with common terms; avoiding common errors; and discovering impactful solutions for victims.

Above all, organizers hope attendees have an increased awareness of human trafficking and the needs of survivors. The training is recommended for medical and dental staff, first responders, emergency medical technicians, law enforcement, school staff, and anyone with an interest in halting the trafficking epidemic. The class is free to attend and registration is recommended.
