The biannual Friends of the Perry Public Library Book Sale is this week, and the community is invited to help themselves to some new-to-them books while helping a good cause.

The book sale will run Friday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. It will be held in the library’s large meeting room, and includes a wide variety of books, movies, music, and more. Library Director Mary Murphy says it’s a great opportunity for people to inexpensively fill their bookshelves. “If you have never been to a library book sale, the books are really, really low-priced. So it’s a chance for us to do some fundraising, (and) a chance for you to acquire some books (or) DVDs for dollars! It’s first-come, first-served, and if you get there earlier the selection of the books are greater.”

All the proceeds from the sale will benefit the Friends group, which uses the money to support the library’s programs and services, particularly the upcoming summer reading program. There will be a second book sale this October.
