For one of the few times since the Drake Relays went to three days of high school competition some years ago, the Greene County Rams will have events all three days. The boys qualified four events and girls will have two at the 110th Drake Relays at Drake Stadium in Des Moines this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Late afternoon Thursday will be the busiest time for the Rams with three field events competing at the same time. Junior Tyler Miller in the shot put and junior Carter Morton in the high jump both have events starting at 4:30 p.m. Sophomore Brianna Osterson in the girls’ long jump starts at 5 p.m.
On Friday the 26th, junior Colby Kafer takes part in the long jump at 9:30 a.m. for the only Greene County event on Friday.
The preliminaries of the 4 x 100 meter relay are at 9:30 Saturday morning for girls and 10 a.m. for boys and the Rams have qualified for both. Senior Melanie Doran, junior Maddy Sigler, sophomore Makala Kafer, and Osterson, comprise the girls’ 4 x 100, while juniors Tyler Teeples, Morton, Brent Riley, and Kafer, make up the 4 x 100 for boys.
All three Raccoon Valley Radio stations and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com will have Drake Relays updates on area high school athletes starting early Thursday evening, and continuing Friday and Saturday.
