Coach Derek Merk’s Greene County high school girls’ track & field team placed fourth among eight teams at Carroll Athletic Field on Thursday. Dallas Center-Grimes won the meet with 147 points, followed by Atlantic 125, Creston 112, Greene County 64, Boone 46, Denison-Schleswig 44, Carroll 32, and nine points for East Sac County (Lake View).

The Rams had one first place finish. That was the 4 x 100 meter relay in 53.06 seconds with Melanie Doran, Maddy Sigler, Makala Kafer, and Brianna Osterson. Doran, Kafer, Sigler, and Lily Muir were second in the 4 x 200 in 1:56.31, and Osterson was second in the long jump in 15′ 11-3’4″.

Last night was the final night for submitting performances for Drake Relays consideration. It was a cold and windy night, which may have limited Greene County performances. There was just one personal best among the events the Rams placed sixth or higher. The tentative Drake Relays qualifying list is expected to be released this afternoon. High school events at Drake Stadium for the 110th running of the Drake Relays are April 25-26-27.
