The cutoff for submitting performances for the 2019 Drake Relays in Des Moines is 11:59 tonight. The Greene County track & field teams have one event automatically qualified for Drake, and no fewer than six others in contention. Junior high jumper Carter Morton has cleared 6′ 8″, two inches above the Drake Relays automatic qualifying standard for that event.

Greene County’s girls and boys get one more shot at making it into the prestigious event April 25-26-27 in Des Moines when they go to Carroll today with competition starting at 4:30 p.m. This is the first track & field season for the new Carroll Athletic Field with completely new running and jumping surfaces. The Rams found the facility to its liking just 10 days ago when they competed there, and Greene County’s coaches and athletes are hoping to do well.

It’s a small field of teams in Carroll with Greene County the only 2A school. Class 4A Abraham Lincoln of Council Bluffs and 3A schools Carroll, Atlantic, and Denison-Schleswig are set to compete.
