As the Guthrie County Relay for Life Committee prepares for their 2019 event, cancer survivors and their caregivers are invited to celebrate and inspire those in the fight against the disease.
Relay for Life is hosting a survivor and caregiver celebration Wednesday, April 24th at the Guthrie County Hospital Sneakers Cafe. Registration starts at 5:30 p.m. with the program starting at 6. There will be performances from the Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center and Panorama High School music departments and dinner provided by the hospital. Kim Durst with the American Cancer Society says this event is held to unite those affected by cancer in victory and hope, “It will just be a great night because it gives us an opportunity to come together in the spring and to get everybody thinking about Relay (for Life). But it’s also another opportunity to celebrate our cancer survivors right here in Guthrie County, and we sure hope everyone will come out and join us that night.”
Attendees will receive a 2019 Relay for Life survivor shirt and door prizes will be awarded. The committee will also share information on this year’s event, to be held June 22nd at the Guthrie County Fairgrounds. Those with questions can contact Cindy Slaybaugh at 515-480-6756 or Kim Heiland at 641-757-0617.
