The Panorama girls track and field team continued its strong season Monday by topping the team standings at Van Meter with 194 points.
Coach Greg Thompson said his team was very impressive. He said there was a good mix of 1A, 2A and even a 3A school at the meet and that in many of the races, the girls were out in front without a challenge, but still improved their times from earlier in the season. Nine Lady Panthers combined to set 17 new personal best marks.
First place finishes came from Lydia Knapp in discus, Ella Waddle in the 1500 and 3000-meters, Morgan Johnk in the 100-meters, Kassidy Bremer in the 200-meters and the relay teams in the 4×100, 4×200, 4×800, 4×100 shuttle hurdle and distance medley.
The Panorama boys finished fourth in the team standings. Among their top performances were first place finishes for Gracen Welberg in the high jump and the sprint medley relay team. Spencer Hunt took second place in the 200-meters and third in the 100, Luke South placed second in the 110 hurdles, Koltin Sloss was third in discus, Kevin Cogil was third in the 800-meters and Welberg finished fourth in the 400-meters.
The boys team will next compete Tuesday at Audubon. The girls will be in action Thursday in Underwood after last week’s meet at ACGC was canceled because of weather.
