The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened Tuesday morning in regular session.
The meeting began an hour earlier than normal, with an 8 a.m. session of the County Assessor’s Board. They held a public hearing to approve the fiscal year 2020 budget, and also appointed new Human Resources Director Beth Deardorf as the Supervisor’s representative on the examining board. The regular session began with approving the hire of Danielle King as the new Senior Elections Clerk for the Auditor’s Office, replacing Lance Kramer who resigned last month. King will start on April 22nd. Following that, the Board approved a resolution proclaiming this week as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, with representatives from the County’s 911 Dispatch on hand to discuss their work.
Other items approved included: setting a public hearing for April 30th at 9:30 a.m. to discuss transferring ownership of the parking lots of the Raccoon River Valley Trailhead in Waukee to the City; a military tax credit reimbursement; and helping the City of Van Meter with their comprehensive plan. Finally, the Board instructed Operations Director Rob Tietz to draft a letter informing the landlord of 918 Court Street that the County will no longer lease the building once the current lease expires. The facility currently houses the driver’s license station.
The meeting concluded with a facilities plan workshop, where the Board discussed use of the community room at the Human Services Campus by outside entities.
