With Easter coming up, there are some area Easter egg hunts and unique hunts for those on four-legs.

The Animal Protection and Education (APE) Agency in Paton is hosting the Doggie Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday at 1pm at Daubendiek Park in Jefferson. The entry fee is $4 per dog and there will be several plastic eggs filled with doggie treats scattered throughout the park. All proceeds will go to APE’s low-cost spay and neuter programs throughout Iowa. Registration for the event begins at 12:30pm with the hunt to start at 1.

Area Easter egg hunts for non-canines are also taking place this week. A smaller egg hunt will take place for toddlers at 9:30am tomorrow in Churdan. Participants are asked to meet at the library. In case of inclement weather, the hunt will be inside the library. The Churdan city-wide egg hunt will be held on Saturday for toddlers through 4th graders. Prior to the hunt, everyone is encouraged to make an Easter basket at the library at 9:30am, with the hunt to start close to 10. Donations of candy, cash or toys for the plastic eggs can be left at the library.

Also on Saturday will be an egg hunt at the Grand Junction City Park with the Grand Junction Fire Department. Registration will be from 12:30 to 1pm for toddlers to nine-year-olds, with the hunt to begin at 1pm.
