The start of the 2019 Greene County Farmers Market is less than two months away and an informational meeting will be held later this week to explain everything about this year’s market.

The “Spring Into Spring” informational meeting will be on Thursday at 6pm at the Thomas Jefferson Gardens Education and Welcome Center in Jefferson. Farmers Market Co-organizer Chris Henning says all potential vendors and those interested in hosting a fundraising meal during the weekly market are invited to attend the meeting. Plus, Henning says they are looking for a new daily market manager to replace Haily Diem.

“She’s going on to do a CSA (College Student Affairs) and back to grad school which is pretty exciting. But we have a position open. The job description is on our Facebook page. People can come out and meet some of the vendors and see if they might be interested in helping with setup, and advertising, and taking pictures at market, and that kind of thing.”

The market will be on Tuesdays from 4 to 6:30pm on the east side of the Greene County Courthouse from June 4th through September 24th. Henning adds it is an Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship sanctioned market. Thursday’s meeting is free and open to the public.
