Runners around Iowa will be taking part in the Seventh Annual Live Healthy Iowa 5K, and one of the 18 locations will once again be Dallas County Hospital in Perry.
The event was created to encourage community wellness efforts, as well as wrap up and celebrate the annual 10-Week Wellness Challenge in Iowa. The Perry event will feature two separate races, with the 5K run for adults starting at 8 a.m., and the 1K kids run at 9. Registration will be from 7-7:45 a.m. in the north parking lot of the hospital. The parking lot will also serve as the starting and ending point of the race, with a water station at the halfway point on Otley Street behind the Hamlin-Bell apartment complex.
The cost to participate is $25 for adults, or $15 for those who participated in the 10-Week Wellness Challenge, and $5 for kids age 12 and under. Registration can be done ahead of time online or at the hospital tomorrow morning, though t-shirts aren’t guaranteed for those registering the day of the race. Raccoon Valley Radio’s Big Red Radio will be at the event, with Chris Cohea serving as emcee.
