Dallas County Conservation is all in on birds this year with their Big Year Birding Challenge, and tomorrow the avian-themed events continue with a focus on birds commonly associated with Baltimore, Maryland.

Conservation is hosting a workshop where people can make bird feeders specifically for orioles. The bird isn’t scheduled to arrive in Dallas County for a few more weeks, so naturalists felt now was a good time to get people started on how to attract them. Attendees will build a cedar bird feeder that is unique in that it’s both waterproof and designed to hold oranges and grape jelly, which are effective treats to attract orioles.

The event will be held tomorrow from 1-2:30 p.m. at Forest Park Museum and Arboretum. There is a $25 fee to participate, which covers the materials to make your feeder, and registration is required. For more information or to sign up, stop in or call Forest Park at 515-465-3577.
