The Panora City Council met in regular session Monday.
The meeting began with the Council deciding to forgive 50% of the above normal average sanitary sewer charge for resident Darrell Shook. Next, after a closed session was held to discuss a real estate purchase agreement, the Council accepted a $2,000 offer from Michael and Mary Arganbright for the property at 101 East Market Street to build a one-story house. They also scheduled a public hearing on the proposed conveyance of that property for 6:30 p.m. April 22nd.
Finally, the Council agreed to amend their previous authorization to use up to $50,000 for emergency rock placement at the Lenon Mill Dam, increasing it to $100,000. City Administrator Lisa Grossman informed the Council that more cracks have been discovered, so Harmann Excavating is now placing rock across the entire front of the dam. Grossman is discussing long-term solutions with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, who own the dam. The dam protects the City’s water source, which was breached due to floods last month.
