The ACGC track and field teams continued to collect top-three team results at the Earlham Coed Invitational on Tuesday. The boys team grabbed another 2nd place finish with the girls team placing 3rd.
The boys team collected several 1st place finishes. Senior Dylan Soper grabbed his first individual title of the season with a win in the 200 meter dash. He also finished 3rd in the 100 meter dash. Classmate Noah Nelsen also claimed another title in the 3200, finishing over 30 seconds ahead of 2nd place Garrett Buxton of Ogden. He also finished less than a second behind Nodaway Valley’s Josh Baudler in the 1600, coming in 2nd place. The other top finish for the ACGC boys went to junior Quynton Younker in the shot put. Classmate Sam Madsen was right behind Younker in 2nd. Other top three finishes for the boys included senior Clay Billheimer in the 800 (2nd) and the distance medley relay team (2nd).
Junior Kate Crawford and senior Madison McDermott continue to outperform the competition on the girls side. Crawford swept the 1500 and 3000. She finished nearly a minute ahead of 2nd place Lucy Borkowski of Harlan in the 3,000 with a season-best time of 10:41.97. McDermott took another title in the shot put and grabbed a 3rd place finish in the discus. Other top three finishes for the girls included senior Savana Fuller in the 100 meter dash (3rd) and the 4×800 meter relay team (3rd).
The boys team finished with 110 points and the girls accumulated 84. Des Moines Christian and Harlan were the boys and girls team champions with 154 and 169.33 points respectively. The girls were set to be back in action tonight for the home varsity meet in Guthrie Center, though that meet has been cancelled due to weather.
