Depending on the whims of Mother Nature it could be a busy week for the Panorama boys golf team with three meets scheduled over five days.
The Panthers hosted their first home competition on Monday and are scheduled to play again both Thursday and Friday, but with rain and possible thunderstorms in the forecast for at least portions of today and Thursday there could be changes.
Coach David VanAhn spoke on Monday’s Guthrie County PM Sports Page about how the team coped with unfavorable weather when practice started back in March.
“When we were in the gym basically all we worked on was putting,” VanAhn said. “I’m not a firm believer that you can gain anything by chipping off a mat, so that’s kind of what we did. I designed a golf course with some putting aids and so forth. They had a little competition on that and we kept track of our putts. We putted from three feet, five feet, ten feet and kept track of all that.
As of right now both meets are on as scheduled with Thursday’s competition at Jester Park teeing off at 4 p.m.
