The Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center Junior Class is harkening back to a song made famous before they were born at this year’s prom.
The ACGC Prom takes place this Saturday with the theme “Fishing in the Dark.” Junior Jacqueline Trujillo Garcia describes the visuals of this year’s festivities, “So we’re going for a rustic look. I know we’re having a boat, and then we’re going to try and hang some lanterns with some lights and all that stuff, and anything just rustic. We asked people to come in and bring some stuff, and we’ve had a lot of parents and people just bringing stuff that we’re going to incorporate in there.”
Junior Reagan Rumelhart explains what the junior class does in order to make prom a free and memorable event for the seniors, “Well, in order to help, you have to pay your class dues and you have to have a deposit down. And you have to have worked for the junior class in some way, whether that’s concessions or selling prom tickets or something like that. So I’m sure we have like half of the class willing to help and already paid their dues and all that stuff.”
Prom will begin with a grand march at 5:30 p.m. in the high school gym with dinner to follow at 6:30 p.m. provided by the junior class parents. The dance will begin at 9 p.m. in the gym, and after prom will follow at Incredibowl in Guthrie Center.
