It’s no secret the ACGC athletic departments have been gifted with athletes capable of running long distances. An ACGC junior added her name to a long list of Chargers to medal at an invitational in a long distance running event. Jackie Trujillo-Garcia recorded her highest varsity finish in her ACGC career, placing 2nd at Thursday’s Van Meter Invitational in the 3000 meter run.

Head coach Colin Shawgo talks about the role Trujillo-Garcia carries proudly for the team. “She has been stepping up a lot this year. She knows that her main role is in the distance (events) but she always provides a very positive influence for our team. She is loved by everyone on the team and they really enjoy spending time with her. So she understands that and so she uses that role to her advantage all the time, keeping everybody’s spirits up and making sure everybody stays motivated.”

Trujillo-Garcia currently has the fourth fastest time for the ACGC girls, behind Kate Crawford, Lauryn Embleton, and Rylee Sloss. Her time at Van Meter is a personal best, nearly 15 seconds better than her best time last season.
