Behind seven goals from Perry senior Natalie Martinez, Greene County dropped its girls’ soccer home opener, 10-0, on Friday in Grand Junction. The match was stopped with 18:35 left in half number two by the 10-goal rule when Martinez scored off a deflection. She broke her own Perry school record for goals in a game, which had stood at six. The Jayettes are 2-1 on the season after two wins in 24 hours.

Coach Marilyn Tasler’s Rams played three matches in five days and they stand at 1-2 with both losses by shut out. Greene County won 2-1 at Carroll High on Thursday, but couldn’t sustain the momentum vs. the Jayettes. The Rams had a handful of scoring opportunities, but couldn’t put the ball successfully across the goal.

It took Perry 5-1/2 minutes to score its first goal, and the Jayettes led 5-0 at intermission. Next up for the Rams is 10 days off before playing on April 15 vs. Harlan in Grand Junction.
